Intricate light purple woven huipil w/ embroidered floral collar. I think this one is from San Martin Jilotepeque.
Villages in Guatemala produce their particular traditional huipil style that is distinct and recognizable. Because they are made by hand, no two huipiles are alike. The base material is woven on a back-strap loom, and then decorated with hand embroidery. Each piece is the product of many hours of skilled work and generations of cultural knowledge.
